The clean design aesthetic established with the editorial stories in the premier issue of The Knot Wedding Gowns magazine was carried through to the templates for wedding gown designer pages and sidebars. Work on subsequent issues includes art directing photoshoots and evolving the templates and variations therein for the gown designer pages and sidebars.

After The Knot acquired a regional wedding magazine called Weddingpages, the magazine went through a re-design so that the overall aesthetic matches that of The Knot Wedding Gowns — clean sans serif font, big bold photos and colorful sidebar information with clear hierarchy.

Advertisements

One of the first online wedding registries, The Knot Registry was created as a sub-brand of The Knot. This series of advertisements let couples know about the registry's existance and also show off the accessability and ease with which couples could register. Some ads were paired with worksheets to guide couples through registring for essentials.

Catalog

The line drawings synonymous with The Knot Registry branding adorn the front cover and also serve as a wayfinding system along the right side of each spread of the catalog. Taking a cue from the aesthetic of the line drawings, registry items were photographed and silhouetted to achieve a more "flat" appearance.

Stationery

The branding for The Knot Registry pairs a saturated orange with dark blue to create a crisp, clean color palette. The Knot logo is incorporated into a new lock-up specific to the registry. A lineup of flat, simple line drawings of registry items is a consistent thread on all pieces.

The Knot stationery is clean and minimalistic. Color blocking defines the space with two shades of blue and accents of bright green. Large swatches of the green on the letterhead, business card, and mailing label provide a bright background for areas of text.

Pamphlet

Intended to educate users on all of the tools The Knot offers, this piece links each wedding planning step with its corresponding URL and website icon. Bright green is used as an accent color on the front and is also printed full bleed on the back making this handout stand out.

Registry Cards

These cards utilize the saturated orange and simple line drawings typical of The Knot Registry brand vocabulary. On the reverse side of the dark blue card registrants are instructed to hand out the orange cards to guests. The reverse side of the orange cards contains instructions for guests to find the couple's wedding registry on The Knot's website.
